Independent Timetable!

Earlier in Term 4, Room 7 started a new development called an ‘Independent Timetable.’ This means that we get to chose which learning subjects to do and when, with some work sessions with the teacher. Instead of having maths groups, we book into a session with the teacher or the teacher aide. We also have to have things handed in on time, usually maths is due on Wednesday and other things are mainly due on Friday. We have a tick chart and when we have finished some tasks we tick them off.

Here are what some people in our class think of the independent timetable.

Shelley: I think it is really fun, but it’s also hard when things are due.
Paige: I think it’s cool because you don't have to do what the teacher says when she says it, you can kind of be free about it.
Finlay: I think it actually helps because if you really need something done you can choose when to do it.
Kane: I like it because I can be in charge of my day, and be independent.
Sophie: It’s great and I like how it gives you independence and you get to choose what you do.

This is Shaniah's Timetable. You can see she is planning on spending most of her day Reading.

Sophie is filling in her timetable for the day. Coordinating what time she will meet with her Science Fair group.

Ruby is checking that things are where they should be for her day.
