Report Writing- Endangered Species

We have had a big learning focus on Information Reports this term. The students started by reading reports and identifying the features. We then wrote a shared report, as a class, on The Kakapo.
We co-constructed a success criteria about what would make a successful report. These included opening statements, paragraphing, closing statements, glossary, length, editing, facts, details, etc. Students worked in pairs to research an endangered species and they wrote a report together. We peer assessed these and then the teacher assessed these. Then we wrote our own reports on another endangered species. The students used a talking partner, the teacher and teacher aides to help them with improving their reports along the way.
We also had to manage ourselves to use our time wisely and get the report completed to a high standard in time.
Happy reading.
